What is a custom-made orthopedic shoe?

It is a shoe that is custom designed, crafted and fitted to meet an individual’s unique foot structure that cannot be accommodated by an “off the shelf product”.  The shoe is fabricated by a certified Master Craftsman.

The process is completely custom made IN-HOUSE from pattern design, cutting and sewing in addition to a custom-made insole within the shoe.

The process occurs in 3 stages:

  1. 1-hour Initial assessment that involves a comprehensive assessment and a 3D casting of the feet.
  2. Fitting model approximately 1-2 weeks post casting to confirm initial measurements and make any new adjustments and finalize the design of the shoe.
  3. Completion and pick up of the shoe approximately 3 weeks post-fitting model.

Why choose custom-made orthopedic footwear?

Custom-made orthopedic footwear is for people with very unique foot shapes and/or gait abnormalities such as those with severe arthritis or diabetics that require significant amount of accommodations. Common conditions include Charcot foot (diabetics), foot ampuations, and severe arthritis.

Types of accommodations include increased width, depth, rigidity ankle support, wider outsoles, rocker bottoms and seamless designs to reduce rubbing.
